Currently serve as the Guidance Director and responsible for all counseling activities.   My primary duties includes, but not limited to: scheduling classes; monitoring students academic progress; coordinating/administering various tests to assist in measuring and accessing students academic abilities, and working collaboratively with UT. 

Prior to being employed as the Guidance Counselor for Toledo Early College High School (TECHS), my work experience was at the University level.  I was employed by the University of Toledo (UT) in various capacities, in my early career years, as a Counselor, Coordinator of Counseling Services, Coordinator of Tutorial Services and Assistant Director of Student Development.  As an Assistant Director for UT, one of my primary responsibilities included the coordination of a summer program to assist high school students in making a successful transition from the high school setting to the college environment.  During this period of time, I began working with TECHS, for several years, in an advising role.  I assisted with the selection of courses for students to enroll in at the University which fulfilled high school graduation requirements.  In addition, I was an instructor for the first course that TECHS students enroll in on the college level (referred to as FYI) which determined student’s readiness to continue taking courses, in subsequent semesters, on the college level. 

My ultimate goal is to serve as a student advocate assisting students with adjusting to the TECHS experience.  This experience is unique, innovative and challenging, but provides students with many rewards including the opportunity to have an “early start” on a college education with all expenses provided, and to acquire sustainable life skills.
