Knowledge of science is important in our society. There is always something in the news that is related to some aspect of science. Increasingly, politicians are campaigning on scientific issues that affect citizens. In order for us to make informed decisions we must have an understanding of the issues. One of the hot button topics in this year’s election will be about the environment; this is a topic that is covered in biology.

To the teaching profession I have brought knowledge that I acquired not only from the years I spent as a student, but information that I learned during my previous career as a Hematology Specialist. I often use examples of cases that I encountered in my practice into my lessons. This is helpful because it allows the students to see that what they are learning is relevant and applicable to everyday situations.

It is my hope that Toledo Early College High School will be the standard, academically, by which all other schools (public and private) are measured.
